Richard J. Ruckman, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Ruckman is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who was born and raised in Houston, TX but has chosen East Texas to be his home since 1978. After moving to Lufkin, he established The Center For Sight in 1981 and has strived to make The Center For Sight a leading eye care facility in East Texas. The Center For Sight has grown from one doctor in one location to six doctors with full service eye care to include clinical services and optical shops in Lufkin and Livingston and a Medicare-approved and AAAHC-certified surgery center in our Lufkin office.

In addition to his work providing eye care and performing surgery, Dr. Ruckman is a nationally-recognized instructor, having authored numerous articles and having taught on a number of ophthalmic topics through The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).
